How is the nail colour Halal-certified?
Our water-based nail colours are halal-certified. The certificate guarantees that ingredients and production follow Islamic law, meaning they don’t contain any ingredients that are forbidden such as animal ingredients and natural alcohol. Each shade and the Top Coat is certified by Halal Certification Services with high-quality standards, and audits are repeated yearly. HCS is an officially recognized institution that works together with Muslim scholars who are well-versed in the interpretation of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and Muslim scientists. HCS makes use of the Halal Assurance System, which is in line with ISO 17065**.

Is the water-based nail colour suitable for Muslim prayer?
Our water-based nail colours are Halal-certified and have been externally tested for water permeability. Their non-occlusive structure allows water to reach the nail plate and thus makes them suitable for religious washing rituals. If you wish to perform the wudu wearing our water-based nail colour, please note that the test was performed on one layer of nail polish, and water permeation was detected after 5 minutes washing. We suggest washing your hands in a bowl of lukewarm water. Our water-based Top Coat is Halal certified and breathable, but it is not water permeable and therefore not suitable for ablution.

Water-permeable: How does water permeability work?

Water-permeable: How does water permeability work?
Our water-based colours are water-permeable. The nail colour is non-occlusive - they have a grid-like structure that enables water to reach the nail plate. Water permeability and breathability have been tested separately by an external laboratory. For testing the water permeability, one layer of nail colour is applied to a paper filter. Then, the laboratory simulates hand washing by adding coloured water and movement to the colour. After five minutes of simulation, the coloured water that passed through the filter was detected by an instrument. Moreover, the paper filter showed traces of the coloured water, further proving the water permeability. If you wish to perform the wudu wearing our water-based nail colour, please note that the test was performed on one layer of nail polish, and water permeation was detected after 5 minutes washing. We suggest washing your hands in a bowl of lukewarm water. Our water-based Top Coat is Halal certified and breathable, but it is not water permeable.
